The 2016 Tapestry Adoption & Foster Care Conference will be held October 21-22 at Irving Bible Church. This year will feature Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)  trained professionals, Empowered to Connect Parent Trainers, and Occupational Therapists across both days of the event.

We will offer three workshops on Friday, October 21, for families (primary caregivers, extended family, teachers, children’s ministry staff), for professionals, and adoption and foster care ministry leaders. Saturday, October 22, will have a more traditional conference format consisting of morning and afternoon general sessions, 12 breakout sessions, one lunch session, and a sensory experience that is not to be missed.

Here are 4 reasons you need to join us at this year’s conference.

The Content

We all desire greater connection with our kids. We desire that connection because we all want hope and healing to be a part of our family’s DNA. In order to do that, we need to understand who we are, who our kids are, and what our kids need. We need to learn how to empower them, and how to connect with them, and how to correct them.

The content at this year’s conference will help us understand what we need to become the parents and professionals that our kids need us to be. We will have hours of honest, relevant, practical, and helpful teaching delivered by some of the leading connected parenting experts.

The Community

One of my favorite things about the conference is being around other like minded parents. People who get it. There are only a few places I can go without hearing the same questions you hear every day. Questions like; “Are they all yours?”, “Which one’s are adopted?”, and “You have HOW many?” The Tapestry Conference is one of those rare environments where these questions aren’t asked. It’s a place where the speakers and fellow attendees make you feel like you belong. It’s a place where you can be honest about your struggles and hear others be honest about their struggles too. It’s a place where we can rejoice with each other’s victories as well. I always leave the conference thankful for the training and support, and knowing that I can be the parent God has called me to be.

The Training Hours

This is important for both foster parents and professionals. Training certificates will be available for foster parents on both Friday (6 hours) and Saturday (6 hours) for a total of 12 hours if they attend both days. CEU credits will be available for social workers and professional counselors licensed in Texas on both Friday (6 hours) and Saturday (6 hours) for a total of 12 hours if they attend both days.

Lunch with Adults

We all love our kids, but every now and then it’s nice to eat a meal without cutting someone else’s food, or feeding a baby, or refilling drinks. And if you order the chicken sandwich for lunch on Saturday you can have the rare treat of eating hot food.

We look forward to seeing you at the 2016 Tapestry Adoption & Foster Care Conference.
