girls readingSometimes finding the right words to talk to your child can be difficult, and I will often turn to a book for help. The right book can be a great tool for you and your child. Tapestry put together of list of children’s books, so that you could see what is available to you and your family.

Some of our family favorites are Rosie’s Family, by Lori Rosove, and The Colors of Us by Karen Katz. But I warn you, if you read a book like Rosie’s Family at bedtime and you have a deep thinker, be prepared for a lengthy conversation and to be surprised by what your child says.

I look forward to more conversations with my children (hopefully not all delaying bed time), and I have been glad to have books to help us get started. You can see Tapestry’s list of adoption and foster care related books for children here. Happy reading!
