Tapestry Kids Closet

By: - April 25, 2011

Do you ever get to the point where you just can’t stand it anymore and you start cleaning out your kids’ closets, drawers and playrooms only to find you asking yourself, “what am I going to do with all of this stuff?” Consider donating your ‘gently used’ and new items to the Tapestry Kids Closet, and help us serve local foster and adoptive families.

Got Stuff?

The Tapestry Kids Closet collects items for babies and children to be given to foster and adoptive families who have immediate needs. Many of our families receive calls from their foster or adoption agency and learn that they will be receiving a child in a matter of hours. The reality is that many foster children arrive with very few personal belongings. In response to these needs the community of families that make up Tapestry have a wonderful opportunity to meet these needs by stocking the Tapestry Kids Closet.

Current Needs for Tapestry’s Kids Closet

The Tapestry Kids Closet currently needs the following items (preferrably new):

  • summer or spring clothes (new if possible; please no stains or holes!)
  • diapers (any size except newborns),  pull-ups (any size) and wet wipes
  • supplies, toys and equipment for all ages, particularly ages 4 to 6
  • $10 and $20 gift cards to Wal-Mart or Target to be used for older children

All donations can be made in the Town Sqaure at Irving Bible Church in the box or bin marked “Tapestry Kids Closet.” Donations of gift cards should be left with the receptionist and marked to the attention of Tapestry, or mailed to the church.

In addition, we are always in need of “personal shoppers” and drivers that can help us purchase and deliver (as needed) what the families need.

Need Stuff?

With just one call a family with a new foster or adoptive placement can set up a time either to come “shop” at the Tapestry Kids Closet or request an emergency “delivery” to their house. So just let us know what you need – we are ready to help.

If you have a new placement and are in need of the kind of help the Tapestry Kids Closet can provide, contact Amy Meeker at amymeeker2009@yahoo.com or 214-718-8660.
