Waiting Families Groups

By: - April 28, 2011

For many reasons, the waiting process can be a real challenge – but it is easier to “wait well” with others who understand and are also traveling the adoption and foster care journey.

Tapestry’s Waiting Families Groups provide a small group setting that is ideal for connecting with others who are also in the waiting stage. These groups meet once a month to encourage, support and pray for one another. It’s nothing formal – we just share stories, talk about what is going on and, of course, enjoy a little dessert.

The groups are open to all who are in the adoption or foster care waiting process – and certainly those who are just “thinking about” adoption or foster care are welcome too.

This simple get-together has turned out to be a rich blessing for many:

“The connections we formed in the Waiting Families Group encouraged us to make the most of our wait. We waited together, sharing in one another’s hard times and joys, and we’re so glad we did.” – Scott & Annie McClellan (who adopted Elise, pictured above, in 2008)

Details About Tapestry’s Waiting Families Groups

Tapestry has two waiting families small groups. One meets on the first Saturday night of each month at the home of Mike & Johnna Wolverton, and the other meets on the fourth Saturday night of each month at the home of Anthony & Kristin Violi. Be sure to check the Tapestry events page to make sure the meeting dates have not changed due to holidays or conflicts. You are free to attend either of the groups – or even both. Each group starts at 7:30 pm and coffee and dessert is served.
