The Connected Child, co-authored by Dr. Karyn Purvis, has become one of the most helpful and encouraging books for adoptive and foster parents in helping them understand how to compassionately and effectively deal with the challenges that they and their children face. In 2010, Dr. Purvis together with Amy & Michael Monroe wrote Created To Connect: A Christian’s Guide to The Connected Child, and since then over 20,000 copies of the study guide have been distributed. The study guide serves as a companion to The Connected Child, following it chapter-by-chapter and highlighting the biblical foundation that supports the principles and strategies that are explained in the book.
Starting June 24, Amy Monroe will lead a six-week discussion group for adoptive and foster moms (and moms-to-be) as they work through the Created To Connect Study Guide. This group will meet on Tuesday evenings (through July 29) from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, in West C & D at Irving Bible Church.
IBC’s KidZone is available for this event for ages 0 through 5th grade with online registration 72 hours in advance of the event; however, space is limited. To register for KidZone click here and sign-in to your existing ibcLink account (or, if you don’t have one, follow the steps to create an account). If you have any questions about childcare registration or how to use the ibcLink online registration system, contact Michelle Tibbatts (IBC KidZone Director) at [email protected].
There is no cost to participate in this discussion group, but you will need to purchase a copy of The Connected Child (which is available on Amazon.com). The Created To Connect Study Guide is available free online, or you can purchase a bound copy at the first meeting for $5.00.
All adoptive and foster moms (and moms-to-be) are invited to participate in this discussion group, which is sure to be helpful and encouraging to all women who are on the adoption or foster care journey. Women are encouraged to plan to attend all six sessions. Training certificates will also be available for each session.
If you plan to participate in this discussion group, please RSVP to Amy Monroe at [email protected]. Space is limited.
