In 2011, Tapestry Adoption and Foster Care began to explore the needs of orphaned and vulnerable children outside of our immediate community. We began to look at and research the training and educational needs of caregivers, foster parents, and orphanage staff in other countries, as well as how we could help to create sustainable development in communities that have limited resources. This effort and emphasis has continued to grow and is now what we call Beyond Adoption – an intentional focus on the needs of children that reaches in many different directions other than adoption and traditional foster care).
In 2013, Beyond Adoption, together with our partner Orphan Outreach, traveled to Kenya! Tapestry, through Beyond Adoption, was asked to help the community of Bungoma to cultivate farmland, and because of the donations from many in the Tapestry community and beyond, we were able to provide medicine, supplies, and much more. In fact, this year alone we provided six cows for the children and the community of Bungoma. The children from the Madeline School in Bungoma, where Beyond Adoption served, are available for sponsorship. Read more about the children and how to sponsor a child here.
We are always amazed by the generosity of our community of adoptive and foster parents – and now we have the opportunity to reach out and serve Bungoma and others once again through Beyond Adoption. Throughout the month of December, each dollar you donate to Tapestry will be matched dollar-for-dollar. There are two ways you can make a financial contribution. Feel free to choose one or both:
• Donate to Tapestry online or by check.
• Purchase resources in the Tapestry Store
This will allow us to continue serving the needs of adoptive and foster families here in our community and throughout the U.S. and it will allow us to continue serving children in Bungoma. (Read more about Beyond Adoption here).
Please consider joining with Tapestry through your prayers and your financial support as we seek to serve, locally and around the world.
